History
Nearly 30 years ago, in 1991, Barrie Bennett then fairly new as President of the Club was disappointed at our failure to obtain a major corporate sponsor. His idea was to ask members and supporters of the club, former players, personal friends and owners of small businesses to come together to contribute funds to help Hoddesdon Cricket Club. The intention was always to keep these funds separate from the club finances but to hold them ring-fenced to be available when the Club asked for assistance with capital projects such as mowers, sight screens, major ground works etc.
How Much Has Been Raised So Far ?
Barrie and Terry Pearson set up a bank account in the name of Friends of Hoddesdon Cricket Club and each Friend is asked to donate a minimum of £100 each year. Over the years over £65,000 has been raised in this way.
What do I get in return for my donation?
Friends are acknowledged in our annual Fixture Booklet and on a board displayed in the Clubroom. Each year all the Friends are thanked at a splendid long Sunday lunch in the Clubroom – this year scheduled for 16th August.
What Recent Projects Have 'The Friends" Assisted With ?
During 2019 the Friends made a substantial contribution to the major autumn ground work on the outfield; purchased a new sight screen and helped with the specialist coaching for a number of our most promising junior players.
How do I become 'a friend'?
If you would like to join the Friends and support the Club in this way, there are 2 ways to do so:
1. Click on the Hoddesdon CC website shop and under 'fundraising' there is a one off payment option or £9 per month option
2. Send your donation to Friends of Hoddesdon Cricket Club under account number 10696987 at sort code 15-80-00.
As all contributions benefit the Club they qualify for Gift Aid.
Many thanks for your time
Barrie and Terry and the Friends of Hoddesdon
